Bristol Prom Project

All School leavers should have the opportunity to attend their prom with confidence and in style. School leavers from homes where money is short should have no less right to the experience than anyone else.

The People (Our Fairy Godmothers)

Heidi Wood is a co founder of the Prom Project and our original fairy godmother.

Her Pen picture will be up shortly.

Until then we can enjoy this picture of her with her daughter in the dress that started our little adventure.

Jan Capel is a co founder of the Bristol Prom Project. She has been described as a relentless do gooder, and feels that it is a fair description, (especially the relentless part, because she needs little sleep).

Jan has a strong business development, improvement and change management background.

She has been in the public sector for many years and has worked in Project Management and development of Quality Management Systems as well as an extensive training and development background.

Jan is a natural problem solver and an enabler with a creative and prolific attitude to her work.

She has a history of working with challenging young people in Bristol and has spent 5 years as a foster carer for Bristol City Council.

Jan is proud to be a director of the Walter Tull Association, principally an educational and mentoring group with a cohesive and inclusive approach to their work. www.waltertull.com

Jan has been volunteering with them for some time and is currently Project Coordinator for The Walter Tull Big History Event.

Jan is enjoying her fairy godmother role.

Our Bridgwater Fairy Godmother

Lynne Macriner - Manley, was
our first volunteer Fairy Godmother
and she worked with all the guys
and gals at Hamp Community
Association in Bridgwater.

Lynne sadly passed away before we could make it to our first Bridgwater Prom Season. We are devastated to loose such a warm and special person. Lynne was simply one of the nicest and most inspirational people I have ever met.

Lynnes warmth and kindness touched so many. We instantly loved her. She had the warmest smile and you felt so calm around her. She instantly loved you back. She was determined to help so much and would have been a driving force in the project.

She was a truly amazing individual and her loss has left both a void and a determination to make this so special for Lynne.

Bringing the Prom Project to the school leavers of Bridgwater was Lynnes dream and we will support the lovely people at Hamp Community Association to make sure Lynnes dream comes true.

They are such special people at Hamp Community Association and they are going to carry the project forward in Lynnes name and
I am sure we can make it something amazing.

Lynne, I am sure, has swapped her fairy godmother wings for a brand new pair of angel wings.

We can still feel the warmth of that smile.

Rest in Peace.
